Join our Friday night art socials. These laid back experiences are designed to allow you make while you hang out. Think of it as a creative alternative to happy hour:) Our teachers introduce an art medium and give you tips and tricks for using them! Bring a pal, come solo, pack a snack and some bevs!
Suminagashi, translating to “floating ink”, differs from Western marbling, in that the sumi inks float on a water bath. These simple materials result in a visually bold contrast between the moody black of the sumi ink and the white of the paper surface. This meditative process can be influenced by the surrounding environment. Artists will learn to use breath and movement to alter the floating inks, dramatically shifting the the results of their printed patterns.
Our teacher will lead students in this mindful activity, giving students the chance to explore and create designs on a variety of papers. Leave with a portfolio of pieces for framing or using in art projects.
